A Thai woman named Siriporn Niamrin has found whale vomit worth around Rs 2 crore while walking near her beach house. The 49-year-old Niamrin found the vomit while she was walking along the beach near her home on the coast of Nakhon Si Thammarat province in southern Thailand.

After looking at the whale vomit, Niamrin inspected it and found that the mass of substance smelled like fish. Niamrin did not know about the composition of the mass but she decided to bring it back home with her. Niamrin then informed her neighbors about it and they found that the oval-shaped mass was whale vomit. It is to be noted that whale vomit is also called ‘ambergris’.

It is learnt that Niamrin now wants the experts to visit her house and confirm whether the whale vomit found by her is genuine or not.

Daily Mail reported that Thai woman said that if the mass found by her on the beach turns out to be whale vomit then she would use the money to help her community.

"If I really have the genuine ambergris, I can help my community once I find a buyer for it," Niamrin told Daily Mail.

"I feel lucky to have found such a large piece. I hope it will bring me money. I'm keeping it safe in my house and I have asked the local council to visit to check it," she added.

Ambergris originates in the intestine of the sperm whale and it is used for medicines and potions and as a spice in eastern cultures. Ambergis is also used in some western countries to stabilize the scent of fine perfumes.
