Want to go to moon for free? Then there is a golden chance to realise this dream as Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa has invited eight people to join him for a free Moon voyage in 2023. Maezawa is planning to go to moon on SpaceX Starship rocket and you can also sign up to become his co-passenger. Maezawa is the founder of Japan’s largest online fashion retailer Zozotown.
In a YouTube video, Maezawa said, “It will be 10 to 12 people in all, but I will be inviting 8 people to come along on the ride.”
Maezawa has launched a contest where everyone who pre-registers will be informed about the selection process via an email. The Japanese billionaire announced that he will pay for the entire journey of the eight selected people. Maezawa took to Twitter to post a video and he has also shared a link of the Dearmoon website where people can sign up and register themselves for the ride.
“I will pay for the entire journey. I have bought all the seats, so it will be a private ride,” he added. It is to be noted that ‘Dear Moon’ mission is scheduled to launch in 2023.
It may be recalled that in 2018 SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had named himself as the first passenger to the Moon on his Starship rocket.
Following into Musk's footsteps, Maezawa announced his Dear Moon Project, which is aimed at bringing “six to eight artists from around the world” to join him on his six days trip to moon.
“These artists will be asked to create something after they return to Earth, and these masterpieces will inspire the dreamer within all of us,” Maezawa had said.
In the new video, Maezawa said that plan has since evolved and “maybe every single person is doing something creative could be called an artist.”
