According to historians, Kohinoor diamond, which is now in England, was found from the Kollur mine near Golconda Fort, which is present in Andhra Pradesh.

Kohinoor diamond is without doubt one of the most desirable and famous things in the world. Kohinoor diamond is currently in England. Kohinoor is a Persian word, which means mountain of light. It is to be noted that Kohinoor diamond was first found in a mine in India. The current value of Kohinoor diamond is estimated to be around Rs 1.67 lakh crore.

Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s residence Antilia, which is regarded by many as world’s most expensive building is worth Rs 15000 crore. That means 11 Antilias will be built for the price of Kohinoor. According to historians, Kohinoor was found from the Kollur mine near Golconda Fort, which is present in Andhra Pradesh. Mughal emperor Shah Jahan was the first among the Mughal emperors to receive the Kohinoor diamond.

Abdullah Qutb Shah, the Sultan of Golconda, appointed Mir Jumla, who came from Iran, the vizier of his kingdom. According to historians, Mir Jumla had given Kohinoor as a gift to Shahjahan. It is said that Mir Jumla was not happy with Abdullah Qutb Shah’s rule and he wanted to end his rule. He planned to give Kohinoor diamond to Shah Jahan because he wanted to draw the Mughal emperor’s attention towards Golconda. Later, Shah Jahan had Kohinoor embedded in the Peacock Throne, which was then passed on to Mughal king Muhammad Shah.

In 1739, King Nadir Shah of Iran looted Kohinoor and took it with him to Iran. Later, King Shujashah of Afghanistan returned the precious diamond to Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The British, however, took away Kohinoor from Maharaja Ranjit Singh and they sent it to England.
