From Ambani to Tata: First jobs of Indian billionaires

Ratan, a business tycoon, has been the Chairman of the Tata Group for many years; he did not start off working for Tata. When he was called back to India due to issues with his grandmother's health, he had already received a job offer from IBM. However, because he lacked a resume, he typed one out at IBM using an electronic typewriter and presented it for his official position. 

Sudha Murty, the CEO of Infosys and an accomplished writer and philanthropist, was the first woman hired as an engineer by Tata Engineering and TELCO, the country's largest automaker. She worked as the development engineer in a number of locations across the nation. 

As she challenged the gender discrimination at TELCO, Murty was the combative advocate and a woman with innovative ideals. Before founding Infosys in 1996, she worked at a few other places.

The largest firm in India, Reliance, was founded by Ambani, who grew up in a humble family and started his career working at a gas station. He eventually attained the role of hiring manager at the Yemen-based business

. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan distinction in 2016. With almost five million employees at present, Reliance Industries is one of the largest privately held businesses in the country.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw completed an internship as a trainee brewer at the Ballarat Brewing School in Australia in 1975 after graduating with a Master degree from that institution. When she relocated to India to seek a successful brewing job, she was disappointed to experience gender bias in the country's brewing industry. 

After being turned down by the largely male-dominated brewing business, she applied her expertise of fermentation to found a biotech company.

Before taking on responsibilities as a member of the Adani Group and becoming a billionaire today, Gautam Adani worked for Mahendra Brothers as a diamond sorter for around three years when he was a teenager. He currently serves as the Adani Group's chairman.
