From visually impaired to survivor of train accident: 5 most inspiring IAS officers

S Aswathy of Thiruvananthapuram started her employment in the IT industry, but she quickly left to focus solely on her exam preparation. Aswathy managed to complete her studies while her father worked as a construction labourer and earned the 481st spot on the CSE 2020 exam.

IAS D Ranjith experienced multiple job rejections during placements due to his hearing and communication impairments. Yet, he passed this test on his first try securing 750 AIR. 

IAS Umesh Labana was successful in obtaining a rank of 397 in UPSC CSE 2020. Overcoming total vision impairment, he cleared exam. Umesh had to switch to braille reading after losing his vision in Class 9 in order to finish his education.

 Preeti Beniwal experienced a serious railway accident in 2016 while travelling to The Food Corporation of India for an interview. Due to her sudden bed-bound condition, her former spouse and in-laws abandoned her. While recovery, she started her exam preparation and after three tries, she earned 754 AIR in 2020.

Pooja Kadam experienced a 75% visual loss while in college. But, in spite of this drastically changing situation, she found it within herself to strive harder to handle its difficulties. Pooja passed the UPSC exam with a score of 577, making her the first Ausa taluka of Pune woman to do so.
