9 Bollywood stars who married against parents’ wishes

According to reports, Sohail Khan and Seema Khan faced strong opposition from their families due to their different religious backgrounds when they decided to marry in 1998. 

Bhagyashree has openly shared about her romantic journey with Himalay Dassani. Despite her parents' disapproval, she married him without family presence at their wedding. 

When Saif Ali Khan and actress Amrita Singh decided to get married, they faced significant obstacles. Their different religious backgrounds and a 12-year age gap led to disapproval from both their families.  

Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kendal met at Prithvi Theatre, bonding over their love for theatre. Despite disapproval from Jennifer's father, she chose to marry Shashi in Mumbai in a traditional Indian ceremony in July 1958. 

Shakti Kapoor married Shivangi Kolhapure. The couple kept their relationship secret for two years from 1980 to 1982 before informing their parents. Facing strong opposition, they decided to run away and got married in a court in 1982.

Shammi Kapoor fell in love with Geeta Bali on the sets of Rangeen Raaten in Ranikhet. Due to their age difference and fears of family opposition, they ran away and married at Mumbai's Banganga temple, with Hari Walia as witness. 

 Facing opposition from Padmini  Kolhapure's parents due to their different communities, she decided to run away with her producer boyfriend Pradeep (Tutu) Sharma. They married on August 14, 1986, at a friend's house in Mumbai. 

Sudha Chandran eloped to marry associate director Ravi Dang. Despite opposition from her parents, they married at Chiranagar Murugan Temple in Chembur.

Bindiya first married actor Vinod Mehra, who was already married to Meena Broca. Despite her parents' objections, she went ahead and married him. Later, she fell in love with director JP Dutta. She then ran away with Dutta and they got married.
