9 Bollywood period drama films that flopped badly

Made on a budget of Rs 13 crores, Shah Rukh Khan's Asoka earned only Rs 11.54 crores.

Sonu Sood's debut movie Shaheed-E-Azam (2002) was a washout at the box office. 

Made on a budget of approx Rs 20 crores, Bobby Deol, Sunny Deol's 23rd March 1931 Shaheed, only collected Rs 14.25 crores.

Aamir Khan-starrer Mangal Panday-The Rising also underperformed at the box office. 

Made on a Rs 115 crores budget, Hrihik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro reportedly collected only Rs 108 crores.

Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone's Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey only made Rs 4.91 crores at the box office.

Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Thugs Of Hindostan was reported to be made on Rs 220 crores budget. But the film only collected Rs 193 crores worldwide. 

Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt-starrer Kalank was made on a budget of Rs 130-150 crores. However, the film only collected Rs 146 crores worldwide. 

Akshay Kumar-starrer Samrat Prithviraj was based on the life of Braveheart Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. However, the film earned negative reviews, and it caused huge loses to producer, YRF films.
