Sunil Grover was born on 3 August 1977 in Mandi Dabwali, a town in the Sirsa district of Haryana.
Sunil rose to fame as Gutthi on Comedy Nights with Kapil and gained popularity for his roles as Dr. Mashoor Gulati, Rinku Devi, and Pidu on The Kapil Sharma Show.
He did his schooling at Arya Vidya Mandir in Dabwali and then completed B.Com. from Guru Nanak College.
He also holds a master's degree in Theatre from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Grover was discovered during his college days by the late satirist and comedian Jaspal Bhatti.
In the 2000s, he made his television debut with Chala Lallan Hero Banne on Filmy.
He gained popularity from Comedy Nights with Kapil with his comedic characters like Gutthi, Rinku Bhabi, and Dr. Mashoor Gulati. However, after a fallout with co-actor Kapil Sharma, Sunil left the show.
He is married to Aarti and has a son. In February 2022, Grover suffered a heart attack and underwent four bypass surgeries.
