Scoop, Delhi Crime, Scam 1992: 6 must-watch Indian web series based on real events

Hansal Mehta's Scoop is based on the trial of real-life journalist Jigna Vora, who spent months in prison after being named as one of the accused in the murder of journalist J Dey in 2013. Karishma Tanna plays the protagonist Jagruti Pathak in the Netflix series.

Scam 1992, again created by Hansal Mehta, is based on Harshad Mehta's stock market scam that disrupted the Indian financial system in 1992. Pratik Gandhi's brilliant performance as Mehta is the major highlight of the SonyLIV financial thriller show.

The first season of Delhi Crime is based on the 2012 Nirbhaya Delhi gang rape case that jolted the entire nation. The Netflix show, headlined by Shefali Shah, became the first Indian show to win International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series in 2020.

Rocket Boys is based on the lives of Indian scientists Homi J. Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai, portrayed amazingly by Jim Sarbh and Ishwak Singh respectively. The SonyLIV show focuses on Indian Space Programme and how India became a nuclear power.

The thrilling medical drama Mumbai Diaries 26/11 is based on how doctors saved multiple lives during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The Prime Video show features superior performances from Mohit Raina, Konkona Sen Sharma, and others.

The first season of Avrodh: The Seige Within is based on India's surgical strikes against terrorists' launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the 2016 Uri attack. Amit Sadh, Neeraj Kabi, and Vikram Gokhale starred in the SonyLIV military action show.
