Sana Makbul participated in Miss India 2012 competition and won the title Femina Miss Beautiful Smile

Sana started her acting career with TV show Ishaan: Sapno Ko Awaaz De (2010) and went on to star in Kitani Mohabbat Hai 2 and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?

In 2014, Sana made her debut in the Telugu film Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya

In 2017, Sana made her Tamil debut with AR Murugadoss-produced Rangoon

In the same year, Sana made her comeback on TV with SAB TV's Aadat Se Majboor. 

When asked about why she jumped back into TV, Sana told Etimes, "When I left Television Industry, I wanted to try films. I did a film in Telugu and other in Tamil which got released recently and they did well. But like I said before coming, I wanted to play roles of my age."

In 2019, Sana gained popularity after she worked with Vishal Vishishtha in Vish. Sana even took part in reality TV show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 (2021), and emerged semi-finalist
