7 warning signs of glaucoma

Pavan Naidu

Glaucoma is a serious eye condition that damages your optic nerve. If left untreated, it can also lead to permanent vision loss or blindness.

Here are seven 7 signs and symptoms of glaucoma.

Vision Loss: One of the most common signs of glaucoma is a gradual loss of peripheral vision. People may experience tunnel vision, where their field of view diminishes significantly.

Eye Pain: Persistently itching eyes or eye pain can be key indicators of increased eye pressure associated with glaucoma.

Blurred Vision: Sudden or gradual blurring of vision, particularly in one eye could indicate optic nerve damage caused by glaucoma.

Halos Around Lights: Seeing halos or coloured circles around lights, especially at night, can be a symptom of advanced glaucoma.

Redness in the Eye: Chronic redness in the eyes could be a warning sign of glaucoma.

Nausea: In some cases, people may experience nausea, vomiting, and severe eye pain. This symptom can be a clear indicator of experiencing glaucoma.

Changes in Eye Color: An unusual change in the color of the iris, such as a grayish hue, could signal a severe type of glaucoma known as pigmentary glaucoma.
