Things to never eat with jaggery if you're diabetic

Varnika Srivastava

Diabetes is a condition in which not only does sweet food cause a blood sugar spike, but eating food with high carbohydrates also causes a blood sugar spike.

When a person has diabetes,  the insulin is either released at a very low quantity or not released at all.

Individuals who have diabetes frequently believe that consuming jaggery in place of sugar won't result in a spike in blood sugar. However, as Ayurvedic physicians have noted, consuming jaggery can worsen diabetes, just like sugar.

Furthermore, consuming jaggery with two other foods can raise blood sugar levels to dangerous levels in people with diabetes.

While eating curd with sweets is okay in Ayurveda, it is strictly forbidden when one has diabetes.

Obesity, cholesterol, and triglycerides are increased by the hot effect of curd and jaggery combined with sugar.

In a similar vein, eating salt with jaggery raises blood pressure, sugar, and cholesterol. Jaggery should therefore be avoided in diabetes, just like sugar.
