The Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air recently analysed the 10 most polluted cities of India in October this year. The cities of Uttar Pradesh dominated the list among the Delhi-National capital region.
Delhi: The national capital was the most polluted city in October with an average PM2.5 concentration of 111 micrograms per cubic metre.
Muzaffarnagar: CREA monitored 263 cities, and Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar ranked second in the list with an average PM 2.5 concentration of 103.
Hapur: The CREA positioned Hapur as the fourth most polluted city in India. Its PM 2.5 concentration is 7.6 times above the recommended limit given by the WHO 24 hrs air quality guidelines value.
Noida: The Uttar Pradesh's city was ranked at fifth place in the list. The current PM 2.5 concentration in the city is in unhealthy range.
Meerut: The air quality in Meerut deteriorated in October with the AQI ranging between 200 and 300. The PM 2.5 concentration also fall in unhealthy range.
Charkhi Dadri: CREA puts this Uttar Pradesh city in the sixth position. The air quality is in the 'very poor' category as recorded on Tuesday (November 5, 2024).
Greater Noida: The city recorded PM2.5 levels way higher than the daily national ambient air quality of 60 milligrams per cubic metre.
Gurgaon: Haryana's city Gurgaon is placed in the ninth position in the list of most pollution cities in India. The city has been recording poor air quality since October.
Bahadurgarh: Haryana's city recorded a PM 2.5 concentration higher than 60 micrograms per cubic metre and WHO's daily safe guideline of 15 milligrams per cubic metre in October.
