Indian states with highest number of colleges

The report from the All India Survey for Higher Education (AISHE) 2021–22 was released by the Ministry of Education.

According to the report, Uttar Pradesh is now the state with the highest number of colleges in the nation.

The number of colleges in the state increased from 8,114 to 8,375.

In second and third place, respectively, are Maharashtra and Karnataka.

There are roughly 4,692 colleges in Maharashtra and 4,430 in Karnataka.

Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, and West Bengal are among the top ten states with the most colleges.

The percentage of engineering and technology colleges in the nation is about 6.1%.

3.5% of colleges are medical colleges, and approximately 4.3% of colleges are nursing.

Since 2011, the ministry has been disseminating the AISHE report.

The survey is carried out by assessing every Indian higher education institution.
