Tea is a fresh meaning for almost every Indian early in the morning.. 'Chai' is among the most popular beverage in India and it's something that no Indian can start a day without.
There are different varieties of teas and some of their leaves come in particular seasons which have their speciality. Here's a list of the world's most expensive tea.
Da-Hong Pao tea, which costs a staggering $1.2 million/kg, is without a doubt the priciest tea in the entire world.
Panda bear faeces is used as fertiliser during the growing of the Panda faeces Tea. It is sold for about $70,000 per kg.
Only once a year are its buds cut off with gold snippers, after which they are dried in the sun. The tea leaves are then coated with edible 24-karat gold flakes. A kg of this expensive tea costs around $7,800.
This oolong varietal comes from distinctive buds and is grown in Darjeeling, India. At an auction in 2014, the Silver Tips Imperial tea sold for around $1,850/kg.
This green tea is bursting with umami flavours since it was grown in the shade of straw mats. Gyokuro tea, produced since 1835, sells for about $650 per kg.
Usually, it comes in the form of tea cakes that can be brewed later. The price per kilogramme is about $10,000.
The tea is renowned for its sophisticated orchid-like scent and has a subtle woody and chocolate flavour. This partially oxidised tea often costs $6,500/kg and is consumed to help mental alertness.
