Diabetes diet: 10 low-glycemic fruits that help manage blood sugar levels

The glycemic index ranks foods by how much they raise blood sugar levels. Diabetes patients should eat Apples as they have a low glycemic index of 39. It is a good source of Vitamin C.

Banana, is another such fruit with a low glycemic index of 51. It is rich in potassium, fibre, Vitamin A and Vitamin C, hence diabetes patients can take it as a snack. 

Plum has considerable amounts of vitamins A, C and K. It makes a good fruit option as it has a low glycemic index of 40.

Peaches are rich in vitamins C and A, as well as potassium and iron. It has a low glycemic Index of 42.

Cantaloupes, a rich source of Vitamin A helps your eyes stay healthy and your eyesight stay sharp. Diabetes patients can take it as it has a low glycemic index of 54.

For fibre intake, Diabetes patients can opt for low-glycemic fruit-pears, which help manage blood sugar levels.  

Oranges are rich sources of Vitamin C, potassium and fibre. It has a low glycemic index of 40, making it a good option for diabetes patients to satisfy their sweet cravings.

Cherries are packed with antioxidants, which help boost the immune system. People suffering from diabetes should eat cherries for necessary nutrients. 

Strawberries are a rich source of antioxidants. Their low glycemic index makes it a good choice for diabetic patients for healthy snacks.

Mangoes are a great source of vitamins A, B6 and C. It also has a considerable amount of fibre. It has a glycemic index of 51.
