Signs and symptoms of hormonal imbalance in women

Shweta Singh

Changes in the length, intensity, or regularity of periods can indicate hormonal imbalance.

Irregular Menstrual Cycle

Hormonal fluctuations can influence neurotransmitters, leading to mood swings, irritability, anxiety, or depression.

Mood Swings

Fluctuations in hormones like cortisol and thyroid hormones can affect energy metabolism and leave women feeling constantly tired.

Fatigue

Hormonal imbalances, especially involving insulin, cortisol, estrogen, and thyroid hormones, can contribute to weight gain or difficulty losing weight, particularly around the abdomen.

Weight Gain

Hormonal changes can disrupt sleep patterns, leading to insomnia, difficulty falling asleep, or waking up frequently during the night.

Sleep Problems

Hormonal imbalances can manifest in various skin problems such as acne, oily skin, dry skin, or increased facial hair growth (hirsutism).

Skin Issues

Changes in hormone levels, particularly fluctuations in thyroid hormones, can lead to hair loss or thinning, affecting scalp hair as well as hair on other parts of the body.

Hair Loss or Thinning

Hormonal imbalances can affect digestion and bowel movements, leading to symptoms such as bloating, constipation, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort.

Digestive Problems

Sudden feelings of warmth, flushing, and sweating, particularly in the upper body and face, can occur due to hormonal fluctuations.
