Spices and herbs to boost brain function and memory

Cinnamon: The sweet/savory spice improves memory in older adults by improving blood flow to the prefrontal cortex. 

Curcumin: Curcumin contains three curcuminoids that lower beta-amyloid plaques and inflammation. 

Ginger: An anti-inflammatory agent, ginger may protect against neurodegenerative diseases and lower the oxidative stress. 

Mint: It improves memory and focus.

Nutmeg: This aromatic spice contains myristicin, which helps to prevent the formation of beta-amyloid plaques.

Rosemary: This prevents the cognitive decline associated with dementia.

Saffron: Saffron may improve memory in people with Alzheimer’s disease.

Sage: Sage works by combating the enzyme that breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

Thyme: This herb helps to protect neurons in the brain from premature aging.
