5 youngest captain to lift the ODI World Cup trophy

Kapil Dev became the youngest cricket captain ever to win an ODI World Cup. In 1983, when India won their maiden cricket world cup title by beating West Indies, Kapil Dev was just 24 years and 170 days old.

Australia has won the ODI World Cup title most number of times (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015). Ricky Ponting has been a part of the winning teams in 1999, 2003, and 2007. He was also the captain of Australia in 2003 and 2007 World Cup editions. When Ponting lifted the trophy in 2003, he became the second youngest captain (28 years and 94 days) to win an ODI World Cup tournament.

MS Dhoni captained the Indian cricket team in ICC World Cup twice (2011 and 2015). In 2011, which was also Dhoni's captaincy debut in ODI World Cup, he became the third youngest captain (29 years and 268 days) to have lifted the trophy.

Clive Lloyd has led the West Indies cricket team to victory in the first two editions of ODI World Cup (1975 and 1979). He was 30 years and 293 days old when he lifted the maiden ODI World Cup trophy.

Clive Lloyd and Ricky Ponting are also the only captains to have won two consecutive ICC ODI World Cups.

Allan Border became the first Australian captain to win a Cricket World Cup. When Australia lifted their first World Cup trophy in 1987, Allan was 32 years and 104 days old.
