Saina Nehwal turns 33: A look at ace Indian Badminton player's memorable wins

Saina, born on March 17, 1990, began playing badminton at the tender age of eight. She is a trailblazer in the world of Indian badminton, having won at least one medal in every BWF major event, including the World Championships, the World Junior Championships, and the Olympics.

In 2002, Saina Nehwal achieved her first professional victory by securing the Sub-Junior National title in the U-13 category. 

In 2008, Saina achieved a remarkable feat by being crowned Senior National Champion, two years after her debut in the tournament. Her first international recognition came in 2005 when she clinched the Asian Satellite Badminton Tournament.

Saina won gold and a bronze in women’s singles and mixed doubles at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

In 2014, Saina Nehwal had an incredibly productive year as she secured a bronze medal at the prestigious 2014 Asian Games. Additionally, Saina emerged victorious in the finals of the India Open, defeating the talented PV Sindhu in a thrilling match.
