Root is just 3,257 runs away from Sachin Tendulkar's legendary record of 15,921 runs.
Joe Root recently made history by becoming England's highest Test run-scorer, surpassing Alastair Cook's record of 12,472 runs.
With an impressive 35 centuries under his belt, Root now finds himself in elite company, trailing only behind Tendulkar and a select few others.
Root has scored 50 or more runs 99 times, putting him in third place tied with Rahul Dravid. Tendulkar is at the top of the list with 119 such scores.
Root has played 57 Tests since 2020, which is significantly more than his fellow cricketers Steve Smith and Virat Kohli.
After 267 innings, Tendulkar had scored an impressive 13,091 runs and hit 44 centuries. In comparison, Root had managed to tally 12,402 runs at the same stage.
Root has an impressive average of over 45 in seven out of ten countries he has played in. Tendulkar also did great on a global scale, with an average of over 40 in every country he played in.
With his current form, Root is not only a contender to break Tendulkar's records, but also a player to keep an eye on in the upcoming years.
