List of IPL runners-up from 2008 to 2023

IPL 2008: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) became the runner-up of the inaugural season of Indian Prmier League after losing to Rajasthan Royals by 3 wickets in finals.

IPL 2009: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) lost to Deccan Charges by six runs in finals and became runner-up in the sceond edition of IPL.

IPL 2010: Mumbai Indians suffered 22 runs defeat against the MS Dhoni-led CSK in final . 

IPL 2011: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) lost their second IPL final against CSK in 2011 by 58 runs. This was CSK's second conseuitive trophy. 

IPL 2012: After reaching their thrid consecutive final, CSK lost to KKR by five wickets. 

IPL 2013: CSK made their fourth successive participation in IPL final but ended up losing to MI by 23 runs.

IPL 2014: Punjab Kings reached their first IPL final in 2014 but became runner-up of the season after losing to KKR by 3 wickets.

IPL 2015: CSK lost their fourth IPL final as MI won their second title by 41 runs. 

IPL 2016: RCB lost their third final as SRH under David Warner's captaincy won 2016 IPL title by 8 runs.

IPL 2017: Rising Pune Supergiant were the runner-up of 2017 IPL season. They lost to MI by 1 runs in final.

IPL 2018: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) became the runner-up of 2018 IPL season. CSK clinched 2018 title after beating SRH by 8 wickets.

IPL 2019: After winning the 2018 edition, CSK suffered a one run loss against MI. 

IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals reached their first IPL final but ended up becoming the runner-up. MI won their second consecutive IPL season in 2020 by five wickets.

IPL 2021: KKR were the runner-up of 2021 edition as CSK won their fourth IPL title by 27 runs.

IPL 2022: After winning the inaugural season, RR entered their second final in 2022 but lost to Gujarat Titans led by Hardik Pandya then. GT won by seven wickets against RR.

IPL 2023: GT reached their second consecutive final but ended up becoming runner-up of the season. MS Dhoni-led CSK won their fifth IPL by five wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
