7 breathtaking images of galaxies shared by NASA telescopes

Ritik Raj

This image of the bright spiral galaxy MCG-01-24-014 taken with the Hubble Space Telescope is located about 275 million light-years away from Earth.

The image primarily features the bright core of Galaxy M61, encircled by its twisted spiral arms that are covered in dark dust tendrils.

Its delicate, feathery nature adds to the striking spiral pattern revealed by the galaxy in this Hubble Space Telescope image.

The abundance of arcing spiral arms that appear to spin out from the galaxy's centre is a prominent characteristic of the majority of spiral galaxies.

A noticeable disc of dark bands encircling the centre of the galaxy NGC 6861.

Located in the southern constellation Vela, NGC 3256 is a peculiarly shaped galaxy that was clearly formed long ago by the collision of two separate galaxies.

Here NGC 4696, the largest galaxy in the Centaurus Cluster, is captured in an image by Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3.
