7 jaw-dropping images of Jupiter captured by NASA

Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 captured Jupiter's this image when the planet was 400 million miles from Earth.

This image shows Jupiter’s south pole, as seen by NASA’s Juno spacecraft from an altitude of 32,000 miles (52,000 kilometers).

The bright orange glows at the top and bottom of the planet show Jupiter's Northern and Southern Auroras, respectively, located at both poles.

Jupiter, its Great Red Spot and three of its four largest satellites are visible in this photo.

This image captures Jupiter's North Temperate Belt.  At the time the image was taken, the spacecraft was about 2,454 miles (3,950 kilometers) from the planet's cloud.

All of Jupiter's colourful cloud bands in this image are confined to the north and south by jet streams that remain constant, even when the bands change colour.

For this image Hubble Space Telescope was used to study auroras, stunning light shows in a planet’s atmosphere, on the poles of the largest planet in the solar system, Jupiter.
