China has unveiled a new spacesuit designed for astronauts to wear during its planned lunar mission by 2030, marking a significant step in its space exploration efforts.

The suit is built to withstand extreme temperatures, from scorching 121°C to freezing -133°C, while also offering protection from lunar dust, vacuum, and harmful radiation.

Astronauts wearing the suit will be able to bend, squat, and move freely, which is crucial for tasks like collecting samples and conducting research on the moon’s surface.

Equipped with a multi-functional chest console, helmet cameras, and a glare-proof visor, the suit allows astronauts to perform effectively in the moon's harsh conditions.

Red stripes on the suit, inspired by ancient Chinese art, represent strength and national pride, highlighting China’s cultural heritage in its space missions.

China’s unveiling of this suit is part of its broader goal to land astronauts on the moon by 2030, aiming to become the second nation after the U.S. to achieve this milestone.

China plans to send robotic missions to the moon's south pole in 2026 and 2028 to survey resources and lay the groundwork for future manned lunar expeditions.

China’s space ambitions come as it competes with NASA’s Artemis program, with both nations striving to establish a long-term presence on the moon and utilize its resources.
