Not Mercury: Despite being closest to the Sun and compling an orbit in just 88 Earth days, there's another planet that moves even quicker.
Venus : The title of fastest orbiting planet in our solar system belongs to Venus. It races around the Sun at an average speed of 350,200 completing a full orbit in 224.7 Earth days.
Reason for Speed: While Venus isn't the closest planet to the Sun (that's Mercury), it's close enough to experience a very strong gravitational pull.
Orbital Eccentricity: It's worth noting that Venus's orbit is slightly elliptical, meaning it's not a perfect circle.
The combination of Venus's close proximity to the Sun and its thick atmosphere makes it the hottest planet, with average surface temperatures exceeding 462°C (863°F).
Other Speedy Planets: Mercury comes in second for fastest orbit, followed by Earth (orbital period of 365.256 days),and Mars (687 Earth days).
