A regiment is a military unit that typically consists of multiple battalions and is known for its specific traditions, history, and functions.

Regiments serve as the backbone of the army, providing specialized capabilities and expertise in various combat and support roles.

Regiments are not unique to India; many countries around the world, including Pakistan, UK, US, and others, also have regiments within their military forces.

Regiments in the Indian Army are divided based on historical lineage, combat specialization, and operational roles.

The Indian Army has 27 regiments. These regiments include Parachute Regiment, Punjab Regiment, Madras Regiment, Naga Regiment among others.

To enter the Indian Army, candidates can apply through exams like NDA, CDS, or SSC.

Regiments were introduced in India during the British colonial period and have evolved over time to meet modern challenges.
