King whose utensils have world records

Due to their enormous size, two urns housed in Jaipur's City Palace are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II of Jaipur built these urns, called Kalash.

The Kalash are 1.6 metres tall and 345 kg in weight each.

During his lengthy travels, Maharaja Sawai used these Kalash to carry Ganga water.

These Kalash took two years to build, and 14,000 silver coins were used in their construction.

The volume capacity of every Kalash is 4,000 litres.

When the Jaipur king travelled to London in 1902 to witness Edward VII's coronation, he brought one of these Kalash filled with Ganga water.

The king, who is thought to have been pious, only drank Ganga water during the three-month voyage.

The Kalash were safely stored on board the ship Olympia, which the Maharaja hired to deliver them to England.
