Navratri day 7 colour and its significance

Meemansa Shekhawat

Navratri is one of the prominent festivals in the country. Celebrated over nine nights, the festival is dedicated to nine forms of goddess Durga.

Maa Kalratri - an 'avatar' of Adi Shakti - is worshipped on day 7. Let's delve into the significance of this day, auspicious colour and more.

Regarded as the most fiercest form of Maa Durga, it is believed that goddess Parvati removed her golden skin and assumed the 'avatar' of Kalratri to eradicate demons.

'Kalratri' is formed with two words - 'Kala' means end and 'Ratri' is associated with darkness. Devotees worship Maa Kalratri as she is believed to be the one who brings an end to darkness.

The auspicious colour of the day - Saptami- is royal blue.

The Saptami tithi began at 12:14 a.m. on October 9 and it will last upto 12:31 a.m. on October 10.

During the Puja Vidhi, you can offer 'gud ka halwa' (jaggery pudding), 'gud ki kheer', and 'malpua' to the goddess. It is believed that these spiritual offerings make goddess Kalratri happy.
