Seven spectacular pictures of the earth taken by NASA

Here are five breathtaking images of the earth provided by NASA that enhances our understanding of how it interacts and change.

1. This is the first 'television' picture of the earth from space, captured by TIROS in 1960. 

2. This iconic and stunning view of the earth was taken by the crew of the last Apollo mission. This is popularly known as 'blue marble'. 

3. This is the first image of the earth (a pale blue dot) as part of the solar system captured in 1990. 

4. Captured in 1992, this is called the 'family portrait' of the earth and the moon.  

5. The picture of the earth and the moon as visible from the mercury was captured in 2010. 

6. The picture of the earth, appearing as a tiny blue dot, was captured as seen through Saturn's rings. 

7. The picture shows 'rarely visible' dark side of the moon, when it moved in front of the earth.
