Leading businessman and former Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata breathed his last in Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai on October 9. 

The unfortunate passing away of Ratan Tata has left behind an indomitable legacy of innovation and benevolence. Here are some interesting facts about him that you may not know. 

1. After his parents parted ways in 1948, Ratan Tata was raised by his grandmother, Navajbai Tata. 

2. Despite coming close to marrying four times, Ratan Tata was unmarried. 

3. Ratan Tata once fell deeply in love with girl while working in Los Angeles. However, the girl's parents did not agree on her moving to India, due to the ongoing Indo-China war in 1962. 

4. Tata's affection for animals gets reflected in the fact that he once ditched a meeting with UK's King Charles III as his dog was unwell. 

5. Fulfilling his promise to manufacture the world's cheapest car, Ratan Tata launched Nano cars in 2009, priced at Rs 1 lakh. 

6. Ratan Tata was a skilled pilot. In 2008, he flew F-16 fighter jet in the skies of Bengaluru, becoming the first Indian civilian to achieve the feat.
