Jal Mahal is located in the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, Rajasthan. It’s about 4 kilometers from the city center.

The name "Jal Mahal" translates to "Water Palace" in Hindi, reflecting its unique location in the middle of the lake.

The palace is a blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Its design features red sandstone and is known for its intricate jali (lattice) work and elegant arches.

Originally built in the 18th century by Maharaja Madho Singh I, it was later renovated by Maharaja Jai Singh II. It was initially a hunting lodge.

The palace has five stories, with four of them submerged underwater when the lake is full. Only the top floor is visible.

In recent years, there have been efforts to restore and preserve the palace, making it a popular spot for photography and tourism.

The palace is an important cultural landmark and a symbol of Jaipur’s royal heritage, attracting numerous visitors and photographers.

The surrounding lake is a haven for birdwatchers, especially during the migratory season, offering sightings of various bird species.
