This palace of India's last Mughal emperor turned into ruins

Over the course of their long reign, the Mughals constructed a large number of palaces and other structures in India.

Zafar Mahal was the Delhi palace owned by Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal emperor.

The grandson of Shahjahan, Akbar Shah II, built this palace in 1820.

It is situated in Delhi's Mehrauli neighbourhood and is sometimes referred to as Zeenat Mahal or Lal Mahal.

In its prime, this palace was regarded as opulent and magnificent.

The stone slab at the palace's main entrance fell a few years ago, which has unfortunately left it in a state of disrepair.

Over time, the gateway's roof has also collapsed multiple times.

Given the palace's declining state, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has made the decision to carry out repairs.
