 Takshashila derived its name from Taksa, Bharat’s son. Bharat was the brother of Lord Rama from the Ramayana. 

Takshashila or 'World's First University' does not require any introduction to anyone. 

At one stage, Takshashila  university had 10,500 students including those from Babylon, Greece, Syria, and China.

Takshashila was established in Takshila then India, now in Pakistan.

Taxila had great influence on Hindu culture and the Sanskrit language. It is perhaps best known for its association with Chanakya, also known as Kautilya, the strategist who guided Chandragupta Maurya.

Takshashila was largely a hub for post-graduate studies.
