What is the lifespan of a peacock?

Peacocks are known for their elaborate courtship displays, where males fan out their colorful tail feathers to attract females. They also engage in loud calls, especially during mating season.

Peacocks are omnivores, feeding on a varied diet that includes seeds, fruits, insects, small mammals, and even reptiles. Their diet helps them maintain their vibrant plumage and overall health.

Peacocks primarily inhabit forests, grasslands, and open areas in South Asia, particularly in India and Sri Lanka.

They are also found in some parts of Africa and have been introduced to other regions around the world.

The iconic tail feathers, or "train," of a peacock can be up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) long and are adorned with iridescent "eye" patterns.

Peacocks can stand about 1.5 to 2 meters (5 to 6.5 feet) tall when fully extended, especially when displaying their magnificent tail feathers.

Adult male peacocks, known as peacocks, usually weigh between 8 to 13 kilograms (17 to 28 pounds).

Females, called peahens, are lighter, weighing around 2.7 to 4.0 kilograms (6 to 9 pounds).

Peacocks typically live for about 15 to 20 years in the wild, but they can live longer, up to 25 years, in captivity where they are protected from predators and have access to better food.
