Farah Malik Bhanji, the managing director of Metro, the premium shoe brand, is the country's richest Muslim woman with a net worth exceeding Rs. 26000 crore.
She is the daughter of Rafique Malik, Metro's chairman, and granddaughter of Malik Tejani, who founded the company in 1955 in Mumbai.
With over 20 years in the footwear industry, Farah has modernized Metro Shoes, leading the company’s brands Mochi, Metro, and Walkway into a new era of retail.
Under her leadership, Metro Brands expanded from 100 stores in 2010 to 598 locations across 136 Indian cities.
Farah began her career in marketing and later revamped Metro Brands Limited's technology roadmap and supply chain, contributing significantly to the company's growth.
The company, listed in December 2021, has a market capitalization of Rs. 35,117 crore, and the late investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala’s wife, Rekha, holds a minority stake.
Farah has forged connections with international brands like Skechers, Crocs, and Clarks, and maintains strong relationships with over 250 reliable vendors.
As of April 12, Rafique Malik's real-time net worth was Rs 21697 crore, and Metro Brands Ltd. shares rose to Rs. 1058 with a 52-week high of Rs. 1440.45 and a low of Rs. 784.45.
