Ten people were killed in a suicide car bombing in eastern Baghdad on Thursday, police said.

BAGHDAD: Ten people were killed in a suicide car bombing in eastern Baghdad on Thursday, police said.   
 
The bomb, which wounded 17 people, targeted a petrol station allocated for police vehicles.
 
The casualty toll included police and civilians who were caught in congested traffic nearby.   
 
Thick black smoke was seen rising from the scene and witnesses saw ambulances and police vehicles transporting casualties to hospitals.   
 
Sunni insurgents fighting Iraq's Shi'ite-led government frequently carry out bomb attacks, often targeting United States-trained Iraqi security forces.
