BAGHDAD: Eight civilians were killed and 38 wounded in a car bomb attack in Baghdad on Wednesday, while police recovered 19 bullet-riddled corpses overnight, a security official said.

The bombing occurred in the largely Shiite northeastern Al-Qahira neighbourhood at around 8 am, the official said.

Police found 19 bodies of men shot in apparent sectarian-related killings.

Dozens of bodies are found every week across Iraq, mainly in Baghdad, of men killed in the ongoing Shiite-Sunni conflict that has rocked the country.
