A mid-size tremor hit central Chile on Thursday, shaking buildings in the capital Santiago, emergency officials said.
The US Geological Survey said the 5.3-magnitude quake's epicentre was located 41 miles 60km north of Talca.
There were no immediate reports of damages in the area and traffic was normal in Santiago.
The country's emergency office said the tremor hit near the area that was ravaged by a massive 8.8 earthquake in February.
