67 Pakistanis detained at Guantanamo Bay

At least 67 Pakistanis had landed up at the US detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, post-9/11 attacks in America and 62 of them had now been released.

At least 67 Pakistanis had landed up at the US detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, post-9/11 attacks in America and 62 of them had now been released, the government here said.

"...Following the 9/11, scores of Pakistanis were picked up by the local law enforcement agencies and handed over to the US authorities and 67 of them ended up at the Guantanamo Bay," Dawn newspaper quoted a written reply by foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to the National Assembly.

He said out of 67 Pakistanis, 62 had been released so far, the paper reported.

Former president Pervez Musharraf in his memoir 'In the Line of Fire' had also accepted that government had earned millions of rupees as bounty after handing over alleged terrorists to the US officials.
