California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger received 15 stitches to his lip on Sunday after being injured in a ‘minor’ accident on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, his office said.
The 58-year-old former action movie star was taken to a Los Angeles hospital along with his 12-year-old son, Patrick, who was riding in the motorbike’s sidecar when a car reversed out in front of the celebrity politician.
“The Governor was unable to avoid the vehicle in his path and collided with it at a low speed,” the Governor’s spokesperson said adding that both the governor and his son were treated and later released from hospital.
The star of such movies as The Terminator and Conan the Brabarian was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred near the compound of homes in Los Angeles’ plush Brentwood area, his press secretary Margita Thompson said.
Patrick Schwarzenegger was treated for cuts and bruises.
The governor is expected to maintain his schedule of appointments on Monday.
