SARAJEVO: Bosnia confirmed on Monday its first case of the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu which has been found on samples of two wild swans found dead earlier this month.

"Tests from a laboratory in Weybridge (Britain) are positive and the H5N1 virus has been isolated," on the samples of the two swans, the head of Bosnia's veterinary directorate, Jozo Bagaric, told journalists.

The two swans had been killed in mid-February at the Plivsko Lake near the central town of Jajce.
