GAZA CITY: A Palestinian boy was killed on Saturday when he was caught in a gunfight in Gaza City during a Hamas protest over the Palestinian leader's call for early elections, medical sources said.
The boy, Ibrahim Musleh, 13, died of gunshot wounds shortly after being taken to hospital, the sources said, adding that his grandmother was also wounded.
Medical sources said earlier that 18 people had been injured in exchanges of fire across the Gaza Strip as thousands of armed men took to the streets following Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas's call for new elections to end a long-running power struggle with Hamas.
