The police has blocked off the tourist attraction centre

Following the terror attack against Charlie Hebdo employees, the security at the Eiffel tower was significantly increased.

France's iconic Eiffel Tower located in Paris was shutdown to all visitors after a a man 'with a large backpack' was seen climbing it at around 9.00 am, reports independent.ie.

Anti-terror police soon reached the spot through a helicopter. The police has blocked off the tourist attraction centre. Visitors have been asked to stay away from the monument for a day. Those who were in the queue were moved near River Seine.
