A fatwa reportedly issued by a top Saudi Sheikh allows men to eat their wife if they are starving. The Saudi Arabian grand mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah 's recent fatwa allegedly advised that men in Saudi Arabia "can eat their wives if they are suffering severe hunger", reported the Mirror.
The above fatwa has been issued in light of "sacrifice of women and obedience to her husband".
However, the Grand Mufti Sheikh denied issuing such a fatwa. In a statement made to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) he said, "Attempts by enemies to distract society from their main cause at the moment, which is standing together behind our wise leadership against attempts to distort the ummah [the world's Muslims]."
Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah has previously said that all churches should be destroyed in accordance with Islamic law.
According to CNN Arabi, the fatwa was first mentioned in a satirist blogger's column called 'Israfel al-Maghribi'.
