An Emirates flight from Dubai carrying a package from Yemen and due to land shortly at New York's John F Kennedy Airport will be met by US law enforcement authorities, a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) official said on Friday.
"This is only because there is cargo from Yemen on the flight," said FBI spokesperson Richard Kolko. "There is no known threat associated with this cargo or this flight."
The plane will be escorted to the airport by US fighter jets, said another law enforcement officer.
US authorities began investigating planes arriving in the United States with packages from Yemen after suspicious packages were found at an airport north of London and at a cargo facility in Dubai.
