BAGHDAD: Gunmen attacked the convoy of an Iraqi deputy health minister on Monday, killing two of his guards, but the minister was unhurt.

Hakim al-Zamily was the second Health Ministry official to be targeted in two days. Another deputy health minister was seized from his home by men in uniform on Sunday.

"The convoy was blocked off by several cars and we were fired upon from within the cars and the area," Zamily said adding that two of his guards were killed but we were able to fight our way out and escape.
