METZ/FRANCE: French police have arrested 18 Indians trying to enter Belgium illegally after travelling from Italy, court sources in the northeastern city of Metz said on Wednesday.
The migrants were arrested yesterday after the van into which they and the Italian people-trafficker accompanying them were packed was involved in an accident and had to halt on the side of the motorway near Thionville, close to the border between France and Luxembourg.
The Indians will be sent back to Italy while the trafficker will appear in court tomorrow under a fast-track procedure.
