Islamic State (IS) militants have banned people from wearing the jerseys of football teams like Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid and AC Milan as it represents idol worship.

The citizens are punished with 80 lashes if they are seen breaking the rules in public. According to the Daily Star, Madonna's music was also outlawed because her music was considered "anti-Islamic" and her name "haram" as it is deemed a Christian term for the Virgin Mary.

The extremists have begun handing out leaflets in its de facto capital of Raqqa in northern Syria warning locals about the crackdown.
