NEW DELHI: Old friend Strobe Talbott, will be present when former foreign minister and BJP leader Jaswant Singh launches the US edition of his book which created a major controversy when it was released last year.
Indiana university press is publishing the book, In Service of emergent India, on Wednesday. The book had been a major success, mainly because of the insight he provided to the workings of the government during Kandhar hijacking and the war in Kargil.
But his allegation that a mole had operated from the PMO during prime minister Narasimha Rao’s tenure, sent the cash registers ringing.
Despite his claims, Singh could not name the person that was considered a publicity ploy.
Talbott and Singh changed the course of India-US relations after India’s nuclear blasts that led to Washington’s extensive engagement with India.
